Matt Perushek has dedicated his entire legal career to personal injury law, exclusively representing plaintiffs — individuals and families injured due to the negligence of others. Injuries, whether from an accident or medical negligence, can totally upend a person’s life, often permanently. Matt is committed to fighting for full and fair compensation for his clients. Matt handles a wide range of personal injury cases, including wrongful death, medical malpractice, traumatic brain injury, products liability, premises liability, and serious automobile and truck collisions.
Matt has extensive experience trying cases in the Northern Virginia courts, including the circuit courts for Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties, and has litigated cases in numerous other jurisdictions across the Commonwealth. In addition to his trial experience, Matt has helped clients reach favorable settlements across Northern Virginia, the greater Commonwealth, Washington DC, and the local federal courts. Whether a case proceeds to trial or is resolved through negotiation, Matt brings the same advocacy to every client.
Matt has earned recognition from peers and leading professional rating organizations. He holds an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell — the highest possible peer-review rating for legal ability and ethical standards. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers and as a Rising Star by SuperLawyers. He has also been recognized as a top attorney by the Northern Virginia Magazine and Arlington Magazine.
He is on the Board of Directors of the Fairfax Bar Association. Matt is also active in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He is a member of its Amicus Curiae Committee, which serves as the voice for injured people when the appellate courts face legal issues that may impact their rights and well-being, as well as those of other injured people throughout the Commonwealth. Matt has authored briefs filed with the Supreme Court of Virginia and has argued before the Court on numerous occasions. This experience gives him a thorough command of Virginia appellate law and how it shapes outcomes at trial.
Before entering private practice, Matt clerked for the Honorable Michael F. Devine of the Fairfax County Circuit Court, giving him an invaluable behind-the-scenes perspective on how judges evaluate cases, weigh evidence, and make decisions. He continues to apply insight from his clerkship nearly every day on behalf of his clients.
Matt is originally from Northern Minnesota, where he was a member of the U.S. Junior National Curling Team, winning a World Junior Championship and competing at the U.S. Olympic Trials for the 2010 Olympics.
